what zone are you in? Makes a difference if you are in Minnesota or Florida. Look for your garden zone then type shady or sunny flowers for your area.
Hi Becky, As I don't know where you live it is difficult for me to say, I would suggest you walk around your area and see what others are growing or pop into your local plANT CENTRE AND ASK THEM WHAT THEY WOULD SUGGEST YOU BUY.

It's a bit tough to grow flowers on the north side. You might try hostas, ferns, heuchera (coral bells) of which there are lots of varieties, impatiens.
