What's the secret in growing great geraniums?

I have them potted in full sun.
Mine never look full. I water when completely dry. Frustrated....

Fertilize them. I trim back all the spent flowers regularly as well as the yellowed leaves. Clipping them a little bit also helps as the plant pushes branches out to the side rather than long and leggy.
