Hi Betty. I did the whole planted out and then cut off the foliage. You can wash the bulbs off or just shake them off (I just shake them). Then I let them sit for a day or 2 in the garage. After that I put them in a large paper bag, or bucket filled with peat moss. I store them in the basement for the winter. Good Luck!
I don't take mine out the ground is sill hard in spring . Now would be the time to dig them up and put them back. I live in NY STATE so it gets very cold if they are Harty they know when it's time to come up.
