How do I remember where I planted my bulbs?

Even though I take photos of my gardens each year, I am still perplexed at what and where I've planted spring bulbs and find myself planting over them each year. I live in a tropical setting so I don't have to dig up my bulbs so they sit in hiding!! Help

    Hi Cheri,

Could you hide marked popsicle sticks in between the foliage of other plants to mark your bulbs? That might help. You might need to replace them over time or maybe you can come up with something similar in plastic like plant tags. Wishing you the best.

Since they come back every year, while they are up, put in short plastic markers that state what each one is just in front or behind each plant. They will be covered up while they are up during the growing season and when they are down for the cooler weather you will have the markers to tell you where and what is planted.

A real project: take really good “overhead” photos and have Walgreens blow them up to at least 16”x20”. If your gardens are extensive take sectioned photos.

Get some architects tracing paper and mark on that what those plants are. You might even want to use tracing paper with a grid. You can have a few sheets for each section per seasonal blooming.

Or use doctors tongue depressors, mark the plant name and coat with clear nail polish.

HI Cheri. I would make markers and label them. Then out them by the plants before they die off.

You could draw yourself a sketch as to the layout of your plants and refer to it when you want to plant something else. You could also use garden markers which could be plastic, which will last longer, or wood.
