It depends where you live. When I lived in Texas hubby and I covered wooden frame with shade clothe and kept them outside all the time. But that was where night temps rarely dropped below 50 degrees.
Orchids like a humid condition and indirect sunlight. They do great with Bromeliads which also thrive in the same condition.
We ended up using pvc pipe to make our own misting system. So easy just to go outside and turn that on and off when needed instead of pulling a hose around.

Some are very easy. I live in a moderate climate so I have mine outdoors. Depending on where you live you may have to make a special area. I have been growing them for 30 years and find Dendrobium, Vanda and related genera, and Phalaenopsis easy.
The first step is to go to a garden store and ask them what grows well in your area.

Orchids grow in a potting media of bark. It works best to soak the orchid in water for 15 minutes, then let it drain thoroughly. Do this once/week or every other week depending on how dry your climate is
