If the type you have bloom on "old growth", If you trimmed them last fall you have cut off all the blooms for this year. If not, try a fertilizer that has a high middle number. Such as Miracle Grow Bloom Booster which is 15-30-15. I give my hydrangeas a 10-10-10 in the spring and this time of year I give them the "super push" for the blooms 30 phosphate.
I have the same problem. Some bloom on old growth and some on old growth. I have not cut them back the past few years, but this year I will to see if mine bloom next year! I got behind on yard work.
