Put pieces of cut up sponge at the bottom of the hole you're going to plant in. My sister-in-law has kept roses blooming all summer in Florida that way.

Spring flowers need to be dug up in the fall and put the bulbs in the refrigerator. Plant again in the early spring and you should have flowers quickly. (You have to trick the bulbs into thinking it was winter.)

Everything grows in FL! I would opt for plant such as banana trees, sago palms, fan palms, yucca plants, bougainvillea, and any other tropical plants your heart desires. Just Google "best plants for Central Florida" and you will be amazed of what you should be able to grow there!
