Lilies- can I cut them back now or do I need to wait?

you can dig them up and move them now as long as the ground is still warm.

fall is the better time to transplant lilies.

Just make sure you get them in the ground before the ground freezes.

You can move them now. Much better to get them uncrowded this point and give them room to breathe.

My mother in law shared her daylilies with me after they bloomed in the summer. We cut the clumps into as many pieces as necessary to thin them. "Butchered the roots" (cut them back severely) and trimmed the foliage back. It took me too long to replant them, but I didn't lose any.
