How to get morning glories to bloom?

Morning glories are notorious for not blooming, if planted in good soil. They require poor soil conditions, believe it or not. They are actually referred to by many professionals, as an invasive weed. Read more at:

Maybe using a fertilizer especially for plants that bloom. I use Rapid Grow just as a fertilizer every two weeks

and just noticed this year there was also one for blooming plants. I have not used it but if it works anything like the Rapid Grow fertilizer you will be happy.

I have a vine that is growing on my fence it feels like it has sticky leaves on it I don't know how to get rid of it it climes on everything I guess it is just a invasive weed I have no idea how it got here.I hope you can help me either how to get rid of it and what is it. Your vine(s) looks healthy enough. Maybe it just got planted/seeded a little late...looks as though it wants to grow more before setting buds/flowers but has no place further to climb ;-) ...Spiders probably aren't hurting it unless leaves or buds are damaged in some way. Is it getting at least 6 hours full sun per day?

Spread some wood ashes at the base and water in thoroughly. It will push the blooms. Can’t remember offhand but I think it’s natural source of potassium. Only wood ash not coal, or paper or bbq brickets. Must be from wood. Little goes a long way

If it's lots of tiny spiders you have spider mites and they do weaken a plant. Sometimes just a strong blast from a hose helps reduce them. Your grass looks very green around the vine. Most lawn fertilizers have lots of nitrogen. Nitrogen is great for green growth not flowers. There is no quick fix for this. If you have lots of buds I'm not sure why they wouldn't open. Most plants wouldn't produce the buds. Is it possible you just need to be more patient and they will open? Have you seen any signs that some have bloomed? One year I planted a beautiful morning glory that was night blooming. The flowers were huge and lovely but they only opened after dark.

I agree that they grow best in not so desirable soil. I live in Northern Az. and they grow wild here. They are beautiful. A lot of people consider them a weed because they can just engulf a fence like a lot of other weeds can.

Once you get them growing and blooming, you will have them forever. All over. The seeds can lie dormant for years and years.

I would say the soil should be on the poor side, but I have 3 vines this year and the sparest one is producing the most flowers! About 14 years ago I planted Grandpa Ott morning glories and have never had to replant. They reseed themselves and flower profusely. Maybe you should try them next year.

They like crummy soil. They sometimes take longer to bloom. Spray off some of the spiders. This plant is hard to kill so hang in there, it will come around. I have it all over my fence. Comes back every year, some years more gorgeous.
