Lantana,and portulaca
Check your local nursery. They would know exactly what plants you could use.
Roses love full sun. Most annuals are full-sun plants. Galliardia are beautiful, love sun and are perennial. I live in FL too, so when I walk through a garden center I see where the plants are sitting on tables. If they in the sun them that's where they belong. Also, pull up the little tag in the pot with the plant info on it. Those usually describe how the plants will do best.
Marigolds, moonflowers (bloom at night), red bark dwarf maple, lilies (yellow, pink, red) (Not a peace lily or the giants), Lantana, or Clematis. After these All you need is something full sun for blue and purple and all your colors are covered;)
