Generally they are grown from seed.
The name is 4 o clocks
Yes they bloom! Very pretty!
They bloom at 4 o'clock in the afternoon.
and reseed...
they also form underground tubers and become perennial. They will repel gophers and moles by their milky sap. Underground critters are not fond of it.

Park Seed.com has the seeds called 8 o'clock plants
My grandfather's flowers opened at 9:00 every evening. Bunches of his neighbors would come over every evening to watch them open.
I get TONS of seed from mine - the fuschia 4 o'clocks have a HEAVENLY, strong scent. I also have yellow - but they aren't as fragrant. They do tend to spread by seed and can take over. Their roots go half way to China if you let them go.
Could be flowering vines known as morning glories and moon flowers. Available by seed or in many places by small starter plants. Both like morning sun, moon flowers like shady days. Plant them next to poles, they will grow all over. Most satisfying.
Underfoot
Sorry, thought I was helping...guess not. They did say eight o'clock though.
For all of you that were trying to answer the question....as stated the name is four o clocks started from seed.
They are nice if you have the room. They tend to get overbearing and they spread like wildfire.
eight o'clocks and 4 o'clocks are two completely different plants. The 4 o'clock also know as Marvel of Peru blooms appropriately at 4 pm. The eight o'clock which only produces very pale yellow, blooms at dusk. It's interesting to watch them unfold into blooms in a matter of a few seconds.
I'm in Peterborough Ontario and we've had them here for years. Be careful not to mistake them for dandelions in the Spring...they have similar heavily serrated leaves. It's a good idea to remove the spent blooms every few days or they'll take over the garden. :)
Just counted 89 of them bloomed in a small space. They come up every year! For 50 years now! They are a treat to look at!
