I've heard it might be tricky. Is it true? What is the best way to that? It's this year's plant. No flowers yet.
Hi Rosaline! Did it fall after a heavy rain? Can you see the roots? I can't tell much from the picture, but, I know whole trees have toppled with our rain this year, with the root balls intact. I would think of replanting it, if that is the case.
possibly: hydrangeas need a lot of water - a lot
every day be sure the bush gets plenty of water, especially if it in the sun
Does it have a trunk?
Looks like a young bush.
Did it rain hard recently?
If so it will pop back up once it’s dry.
if the blooms are heavy it might do this.
I saw you had your hostas besides the hydrangea. Could it be moles that are undermining them by disturbing the roots and heaving them?
If it rained that will do it but will pop back up
It has rained several time since this happened and no popping back. Thanks for your reply!
It looks like a young plant: is it possible the blooms are too heavy for the plant, and have pulled it down? When the bush is a bit stronger ( maybe next year) then this might not happen again.
Sometimes animals like rabbits, skunks, neighborhood cats, even opossums lie down on flowering plants and flatten them, they usually come back if watered, get some animal repellent at Walmart and spray or if a dry type sprinkle it around the plant. Spray some Miracle Grow lightly on the plant
I think it just needs water. Mine wilt when they get too dry
Hey there! It could be from rain or a large or small animal but whatever the reason make sure the main trunk is still intact. If yes then place it back into position using a stake or better yet pick up one of https://www.amazon.com/Large-Garden-Plant-Support-Rings/dp/B06Y2J4KYS?crid=2R2JLG9LNCIQL&keywords=plant+ring+support&qid=1534626727&sprefix=plant+ring&sr=8-3&ref=mp_s_a_1_3" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">these if necessary and mound the soil back around the base. It wouldn’t hurt to also pick up hydrangea fertilizer which is nitrate rich to help it along. Good luck!
