Not to worry, they wilt a bit and look miserable for a few weeks. Just make sure they are situated close to a window and you keep them moist. The roots will have to rebound. Remove some of the older leaves, to balance out the roots to leaf ratio. The leaves closest to the centre of the plant bear the newer leaves from the stalk. Remove the older, outer leaves only. After two weeks or so, fertilize with a houseplant fertilizer. I use one that has 10-15-10 fertilizer ratio. Good luck!

I know how precious they are when we lose our parents. I have several remaining from my mom who also passed. We're kindred spirits. Lift your pot to feel the weight of moisture. Too heavy and ease up on watering. Roots respond slowly. Just don't over-soak. East facing is ok during the spring, it should be fine. Cut back some leaves that are looking the worst, but remember - leaves emerge from the old leaf stalk. Find the youngest leaf and leave be.

Heidi - I divided my 20+ year old peace lily last week from 1 huge plant to 5 plants - but they are not looking very good. I used 4 small planters and the original large pot. Two of the smaller plants are looking good but the other two and the larger one are looking stressed. Any suggestions?
