Backyard Makeover

Recently, a reader contacted me after seeing a post about my backyard transformation. She is a first-time homeowner and wanted to know if I did consultations (I don't). Instead, I had her send a few pictures and I said I'd give her some suggestions.
To see more about my suggestions, be sure to link to my blog post. I go into more detail.
My first suggestion was to add a pergola or some sort of cover to the back of the house and extend the patio area. After that, I suggested she add in foundation plants around the back and sides of her home.
She also has this nice grove of trees that are so shady nothing will grow under them. This is the perfect place for a relaxing retreat with a hammock or some adirondack chairs. Throw in some potted shade loving plants and you have a nice shady grotto to relax in after a long work day.
What can't you do with a huge side yard like this. A pool? A playscape? Veggie Garden? Herb Spiral? Anything is possible.
Every home needs a place to store things like shovels, rakes, hoes, and garbage cans. I've put together a few suggestions on where to place these things ~ and they don't have to be ugly either.
