Don't forget to feed the birds! These DIY bird feeders are fun to make and can be personalized to the shape of your choice.
Feed the birds! Anyone else notice Mary Poppins is having a pop culture moment recently? I actually got my love of birds from my Nana who was an avid bird watcher. I have made many bird feeders over the years, but these might be my favorite.
If you have nut allergies these bird feeders are great because they don't use any peanut butter. Instead you'll be using
  • 2 envelopes unflavored gelatin
  • 2 cups bird seed
  • Cookie cutters
  • Yarn, ribbon, twine (something to hang your feeders with)

You can get most of the supplies you will need at the grocery store. Make sure to pick a bird seed for outdoor birds that fit the climate and birds in your area.
Dissolve the gelatin in boiling water. Add the bird seed and mix everything together. Cover a cookie sheet with foil. Lay out your cookie cutters on top of the foil.
Fill the cookie cutters with the birdseed mixture. Use a straw to create a hole to hang the finished feeders. Allow the mixture to set and dry, this will take about 24 hours. Hang up the bird feeders for your favorite feathered friends!
