Everyone likes free plants. Its easy to do cuttings in late summer for these plants. For details on how I did this check out my link.
Here I have removed the lower leaves.
I took cuttings from plants by removing the tip growth. They were about 3"-4" long.
Scrape a bit of stem off to expose area.
I used my pruning shears to scrape a bit of stem off to have more surface area exposed to the soil.
Place in shaded area so they don't dry out.
I ignored these cuttings all summer except to make sure they were watered.
I now have 15 new rosemary plants to share.
I potted up rooted cuttings to one gallon pots so they can continue to grow over fall and winter.
Skimmia with new roots
I love how fast the roots grew on this plant.
Potted up into one gallon container
Skimmia in its new pot. Leaves were cut in half to reduce the work the cutting had to do while growing new roots.
Heather is doing great in its new container.
I love using Heather in the garden. Its grows well here in the Pacific Northwest.
