Microgreens Good for You AND Easy?

So I was talking to a friend about how expensive it was to eat healthy. I was talking about how much I miss having a greenhouse to grow stuff in.
She mentioned that there were some really good ways to grow some good for you leafy things and it not be quite so expensive. She suggested this video to get started with. When I followed the instruction I didn't add the compost, because I didn't have any. It didn't seem to affect the growth of the greens.

I have to confess I was a little worried about the outcome because my seeds were over a year old, some I had left from last years crop, so I sowed them a little heavier. They came up fine. If I had let them grow up instead of harvesting small, they might not have made viable good productive vegetable plants, but we will never know because they went into some good fresh salads.

I was surprised by the flavors they added to the salads I made, I didn't think they would be all that flavorful, as itty bitty little baby plants, but I could definitely taste the difference in the seed varieties that I used. I took the soil mix I used with the roots still in them and added to my vegetable compost pile to be used in this year's container vegetable garden, so I recouped the cost of the soil I used.
