Paper Tube Seed Starters With Laminated Markers

I started with a few saved paper towel and toiled paper rolls. Cleaned off all the paper and then cut them to be about 2 inches tall.

Then add 1 thin layer of newspaper to the bottom. I used a paper circular that came in the mail since we do not get the paper anymore. I used a little paper craft tape runner to stick the paper to the bottom. i do this so the dirt does not fall out from the bottom.

I made a little paper cover to go over the top of these seed starters so we could give them as gifts, but this step is totally optional. Check out the video below on how to make this step. These little covers slide off, so they are easy to plant later.

Add dirt and you seed to the little starter and add a little water. Follow the instructions on the seed packet for depth for the seed.

I also made little plant markers with some white cardstock with a glitter marker, and then ran them through my lamination machine to make them water proof!

Once the plants get a little bigger and the threat of frost has past you can plant the entire seed start into the ground (even with the cover if you wish as it is just paper). Just poke a little hole in the bottom to allow the roots to grow past the newspaper.
