I have sodded and seeded but for some reason it becomes a dirt pile again.

Have you tried fencing off the area for a season. I had to do this with my dog. Fence a different area off every year to get the grass to go back. It is a never ending process unless you decide to turn that particular area into something else, rock garden, pond, or flower bed.

The weird thing is my daughter has 3 large dogs and her back yard is sod when they bought the house and the grass is still thick and green with 3 dogs running around. I am thinking of sodding this Spring again and give it one last try.

The only other thing I can think of is you need to use a different type of seed. If it is sun and shade etc. Maybe the lawn needs to be aerated. Good luck Donna.

If the dogs are digging the grass up try large balls throw around the, saved my yard hope it works for you.

I think them running around just wears it down and erodes the sod.

They do have dozens of tennis balls and a supposed huge ball they could not bite thew but it is well chewed by the German Shepherd.

      Thank you

My dogs do the same thing. We eventually filled the area with pebble rock couldn’t stand the mud.

You should check with a landscaper, county extension office, etc., on the best type of grass to use. You'll probably need a broad leaf with sturdy root, but it all depends on where you are and the soil type. Dogs...gotta love 'em!

We had problems with dog urine devastating the green grassy turf. When the human leash training and otc urine ph supplement and other recommendations failed-We resorted to a remote training collar to train our dogs over the last 17+ years. This collar is exactly the same principle as our existing invisible fence, but you can resort to a tone only button initiation to keep the dog away from an area you’re trying to protect. There are two different zap modes of nick and shock that you initiate and regulate by a intensity dial. Its the same type of collars hunting dogs use.

I do realize these Remote training collars are not for all people but if you using invisible type fence already- it’s likely a great option. My dogs were trained to pee and in mulched area and our grass has been great the last 17years. After training they dont need to wear the collar.

    Hi,

Keep your dogs off the Grass! It is the constant wear from them running up and down etc.
