Black Spots on my Hydrangea

Every summer at the end of August and into September the leaves on my hydrangea get black spots on them. They eventually dry up and fall off. It doesn't seem to effect the flowers. Can someone tell me what is wrong and how to fix it?

Black spots are a fungus created from to much moisture. Use a systemic fungicide in the begging of the season, later in the season use a spray fungicide making sure all the leaves are covered

Thank you. It is a large plant and I would hate to lose it. I will try your suggestion.

Aside from the fungus, the plant needs much water. I too had the spots but found a soapy water spray for tiny aphids/mites with much watering before helped somewhat. Early application of soapy water spray will prevent the mites.

Yes you have black spot fungus, try a solution of 4 teaspoons baking soda, 2 tablespoons dawn dish soap & 1 gallon water. Put in a spray bottle & soak plant completely including under side of leaves. Repeat at least every 5-7 days.
