Hello! You have to consider if you have many freezes in your area; otherwise, you certainly can have success at growing pineapple! Read through the information at the link below, which tells you what to do and also advises about freezes. Good luck!

pineapple is tropical fruit and Louisiana is semi tropical at best, I would venture to say no unless you have a sun room or greenhouse! You could give it a try1

Louisiana is right at the boarder of being very tropical. It just might work for you. I love pineapple but I cannot grow them in Illinois. Good luck. I hope this works out for you.

  • Give it a try, I am growing 2 here in CA and have been successful before. What have you got to lose?

Yes, especially if you grow it in a pot.

you certainly can! I have 3 fruiting plants right now. it takes time but they are fun and great for families. we live in new Iberia and our plants stay outside except for cold winters when small.this past winter i erected a small greenhouse using plastic sheeting because the plants got to about 5' wide! i'm changing over to hard clear sheeting so we can continue growing pineapples and other vegetables. Good Luck!
