Yes! I grow a lot of things in pots that way! Main thing, is that they get enough light. Also, they'll need to be pollinated if you want tomatoes. If no insects can get to them, I've used a soft cosmetic brush to do that.

Yes! I keep my tomatoes inside for the winter in a sunny window. Do get less. I still have 1 ripening from last years plant.
