Where do you live? Did you buy this as a plant/small tree?
We live in Tallahassee, North Florida. We grew it from a seed. It now stands about 4 feet tall and has four or five kumquats on it.
I live in SE TX, my brother in Galveston gifted me with a plant from the nursery because I loved his trees so much. it stayed in the pot for a couple of years until I moved it to the ground last year. it thrived beautifully and produced lots of fruit for its size. it seems happy with the move. he warned me not to overwater which will kill it faster that underwatering. if it appears too dry it will bounce back with a good watering . err on the side of dry. you probably should make sure you pot has good drainage. Good luck and happy snacking!!
