Do anyone know what this flower is and how to get rid of it?

These flowers just start showing up in my front yard. They are growing in my grass, in my mulch, bushes everywhere.

I believe that is milkweed. People all over the country are trying to start milkweed plants to provide habitat for monarch butterflies. How fortunate you are!

"Many butterflies have a single plant required as a food source for their larval form called a host plant. Milkweed is the host plant for the monarch butterfly. Without milkweed, the larva would not be able to develop into a butterfly. Monarchs use a variety of milkweeds."

It looks like common milkweed. The Monarch Butterfly lays it's eggs on it and the larva eat the leaves. With the decline in these butterflies people are being urged to let it grow however it can be quite invasive. If you have a large meadow you can let it go. The seed pods are good for crafting with.

It's milkweed and it has a lovely fragrance. It is where monarch butterflies lay their eggs and the caterpillars eat the leaves. A very beneficial plant to have in your garden.

Yes milkweed. Keep at least a patch of it. I have a little corner that it grows ND I have to demand my roommate leave it alone. The only food for the monarch caterpillar. Save the butterfly. :)

Thanks, I will just pull the ones growing in my front lawn. Some of them have ants all over them should I spray to get rid of the ants or will that hurt the larva?

Why not transplant them to another area of your yard?

This is all over my yard and I thought it was pretty. It's milkweed. I googled images of both milkweed and Joe pye flowers and they are similar. The milkweed flower is more globular in shape. Pull up the ones you don't want and save a few for the butterflies. :-)
