It looks like laurel.
Looks like it could be Azalea. I had them for many years and know what the leaves look like. I lived in the mountains of NC and both Azalea and Laurel are indigenous there. They both bloom, with Azaleas having more, smaller blooms than Laurel. You can get Azaleas in so many colors, they are beautiful. Also, the ones I had at home were called "Mother's Day" and God is my witness, for 25 years they bloomed the week of MD. Didn't matter what the weather had been. It was crazy. I hope that's what you have because you will enjoy them. They are a woody bush but the ends can easily be cut and make gorgeous centerpieces, etc.

This could be Portugese Laurel which has narrower leaves than ordinary Cherry Laurel. It has small black berries eventually.

Its a larel bush they are tried out for bay leaves
