Possibly to hot and lack of water? Could that be a possibility?
Sounds like squash bugs or their associates.. short answer—-look up squash bug, cucumber beetle, etc. or contact your local extension office. these bugs can wreck a garden and demand constant control efforts to stay ahead of.

Sounds like verticillium wilt or mosaic virus transmitted by aphids. I grew squash commercially in Central CA for years and trying to grow it in the Summer is a nightmare. There is just too much disease around. If you want/need to grow it in the Summer get some fine mesh netting which will keep insects out and keep the plants covered ALL the time.
Could be something as simple as watering routine - root rot from over watering or insufficient water wilt. Planted in wrong location - check sunlight requirements of plant. Or even adequate space for root growth to expand. Check zone, soil, water, light, location (in ground or potted container), and pest.
