You probably have wood boaring (boring?) beetles. That’s what they do.
Call an exterminator/landscaper. Could be a carpenter ant or type of termite. Don't wait too long. If you can't afford an exterminator try a garden spray/insecticide. Read the label to find the best fit.
Your tree is drawing to the end of its life. Trees don't live forever. Have it cut before it falls.
If possible take photo and check at your garden centre there seems to be quiet a bit of damage however its hopefully possible to save itGood luck
Unfortunately this tends to happen the older Willow trees get.
I had a willow tree about this size that looked just like yours. I tried several things to save it, but a big wind blew it over (taking my fence down too). Be careful.
It appears to be dying from the inside out. Maybe something or at sometime the tap root was broken or damaged. I know you hate to loose it but if you have a lot of wind it may be safer to replace it.
It looks like your tree was injured & is becoming weaker. We have a TV program here where I live & it airs during the summer. I saw something similar on the show. It was recommended that the tree be cut down & replaced. When a tree sustains such an injury, it cannot be saved! You might speak with a reputable nursery in your area! Best of luck!
Thanks everyone for your input I will take your advise see if a Gardening Center or Pest Control Company can help it. If not I guess I call a tree service to bring it down before it falls over.
That tree is past saving, get it taken down by a tree service before it blows down.
