The tree bears a lot of big oranges but when you open up it’s dry inside. The skin itself looks dry.
Some maple trees are naturally faster growers, e.g. Silver maples grow faster than any other maple, but red maples are fast-growing, too.
Providing your maple tree with adequate fertilizer reduces environmental stress and encourages vigorous growth. You can test the soil to see if it needs fertilizer or you can also tell if a new shoot produces less than 2 inches of growth in a season. Increasing the amount of nitrogen will have the most effect on growth.
Mulching can also help keep the soil moist which encourages root growth.
Word of caution...fertilizing is done based on your location and season. You must not add anything to make it grow faster.Trees all grow at there own pace and adding unnecessary food does not mean the tree will grow faster.
I have used fertilizer sticks specifically for trees. They seemed to have done well.
Do you have mulch close to the base of the tree (it will smother the roots)? Is your tree getting enough water? Is it a variety that is a tree rather than a shrub? If all of these answers are yes, find a good arborist to determine why it isn't growing.
Make sure that tree isn't near any slab or foundation cause it will cause lots of damage. I had to have mine removed.
