How do I get best results starting seeds indoors?
Early signs of Spring are outside, but I want to get things started indoors. How is the best way to get seeds started indoors? I’m worried about the selection of containers, the starter soil, the sun and the moisture. I want to get it right and have plants that will make a hardy transition from indoors to outdoors.

How do you make your own peat pods for an Aero grow?
I have an Aero grow garden that uses cigar shaped peat pods to start seeds in. I was wondering if anyone knows how to their own pods?
It's so easy, it's crazy. Follow instructions on seed packets. I have used everything from egg shells to Dixie cups to peat pots. I started in January and start more at 2 week intervals so there are continual crops. Here are some tips!

Just keep moist, not soggy and give them as much sun as possible. By the time they are 6 to 8 weeks old, then I harden them off, then plant.
Seeds need warmth to get germinated. Most packages tell you how deep to plant the seed. Be sure not to plant them too deep or they will either rot or never come up. Once the seeds are up, they need good light or else they will become spindly. Low watering is a must to deter mold. When you transition to the outside from inside, you need to place the plants in a shaded location for a week or two to harden off or else the hot sun and winds will damage them. Always use a good potting soil mix.
I use Sunshine Mix and any recycled container I can find, like empty cream cartons etc. If you put a fan on low speed pointing towards the sprouted seedlings it will help them grow a bit thicker and not so leggy.

Growing light. I tried it without one two years ago and it was a bust!
