What particular evergreen are you referring to?
Very few, if any, plants will grow under evergreens as they are so dense and the shedding needles will create an acidic soil. You will have to keep the branches cut high. How to grow and care for them depends upon your growing zone.
Evergreens don't usually need much attention. And it depends on the density and amount of shade to know what to grow. It would be helpful to know what type of evergreen you're talking about
