Once a week, deeply. Make sure the medium they are planted in - moss or wood chips- is completely soaked. Drain well. If in a dry area, spritz with water at least every other day. I've had some of mine for almost 10 years. They are almost all in full bloom now and will be for quite some time. During blooming I don't fertilize, but after they've finished, I give them fish emulsion diluted for the rest of the year in the weekly watering. Good luck.
http://beautifulorchids.com/orchids/orchid_care_tips/watering/watering.html Great information on orchids.
If the pot is about 6 inches across you would use the equivalent amount of water to equal 5 ice cubes, once a week. I also have a mini in a little pot about 3 inches diameter and give it 1 ice cube worth. If the soil seems damp when i am ready to water, I hold off a day or 2
Quite a bit. They don’t like their feet soaking wet and you have to make sure the Pots have plenty of drainage. I water mine every few days, but just enough to moisten the roots, I then mist them. I also keep a tray under the pot filled with pebbles and water. They really need humidity in order to bloom.
I only water about every other week. Be sure to use a pot that drains well. Flood them with water and let the bark soak up the water, then let excess drain out. You can tell if it needs watering by looking at the leaves. They will look a bit leatherly. Misting is only for the one doing it. It makes you feel good, but Orchids do not need to be misted, neither do they need a tray of wet rocks under them..
Be sure ther have indirect light and no air blowing directly on them from air conditioners. Fertiliz e about every four months. Mine are in constant bloom .
Hello,
Do buy a book on Orchids as there are so many types and Species. Then you can refer to it when you need to. Hope that helps.
