    Annual or perennial?

    Where are you located?

Preferably perennial. I am in South Louisiana, zone 9. I have several nurseries in my area. I have very good soil. I have enough room because I want to put plants in the front of my beds. A different color green would be nice, such as sweet potato vine, just not as leggy.

Oh I have so many more questions than answers.

    Where are you located?

Do you know your growing zone? If not, google it.

Do you have nursery's in your area? Visit them.

What kind of soil do you have?

Do you want an annual or an perennial?

How much room do you have?

Do you want blooming or just green?

Start by answering some of these questions and the answers will fall into place.

Go to "www.gardeningknowhow.com", then type in search area "sun loving plants for zone 9.

Other than lavender, some herbs, most listed plants were taller (roses, butterfly bush, etc.), but please check to see if you find any viable options.

Given an underground soaker hose system, you may be able to find more options.

    Hello Vick,

Additionally for the best local professional advice

I would highly suggest contacting your cooperative extension. These offices are manned by volunteer master gardeners on site there waiting to answer the communities questions that know your local situation quite well.

Master gardeners are required to volunteer back designated hours ( plus continuing education) each year to maintain MG certification -this community outreach and education is their goal.

    I hope this helps!
