For the most part, hibiscus plants can be lightly pruned in late summer or early fall, but no hibiscus pruning should be done during late fall or winter. One of the downsides to waiting later in the season to prune is that plants may not develop as many branches, and they will put out fewer blooms.

Thanks so much. I still have a couple of buds getting ready to bloom but will prune soon. It does pretty well on our 4 season sun room but never know when to prune as it still blooms all winters. ( does drop lots of leaves). I live in eastern Pa.

Hello, I had one that I brought in the house and I never pruned it. I wanted as many branches as possible for more flowers.
