Thanks to Janet Panos. I read the link and have decided to let the Californians raise Avocados. I'll stick to the little trees you get from the pit.
I have a condo and my only South facing window is my patio door. I can't very well put a "tree" behind the drapes without disturbing it every time I go in and out.
