Ginger beer is brewed (fermented) but ginger ale is just carbonated water that’s been flavored with ginger.
Ginger beer oils much stronger with lots of ginger flavoring.
That should be "ales". Not oils!
Ginger beer tastes stronger to me than ginger ale, and a little less sweet as well.
BOTH ginger ale and ginger beer can be made in alcoholic and non-alcoholic varieties. The confusion is that the "soda pop" type didn't get the soda or 'soft drink' name until well after the drinks had been popular, for hundreds of years. Since it wasn't always safe to drink fresh water, people made and drank 'near beer' , either low- or no-alcohol, which was flavored with ginger both for medicinal value and thirst quenching. Do you want to ferment? Then it's the 'beer' recipes and brewing equipment you want!
