Can you help me identify this bush?
I have a bush that has leaves similar to a chrysanthemum but it has thorns. Don't know if it's a plant or a weed! It was here when we moved in last summer.
Looks like a schefflera to me, of which there are many species.
Schefflera

It took awhile because, I, too, thought scheffleria. But on a closer look, the leaves didn't match - so I went on a hunt. What I think you have is fatsia japonica. The three to seven lobed leaves connect to the main stem rather than each individual leaf connecting. Also, the flower stem was a big help. This is a sample picture I got off the web.
It looks like sassafras to me.
I can't identify it, however I can say it is neither of the 3 plants already mentioned. The fortune tree, umbrella tree and schefflera all have compound leaves (a large leaf with smaller leaflets, each having their own little stalk). This plant has lobed leaves, and from the picture it looks like they are tri-lobed. Fatsia japonica has lobed leaves but they have 5 or more shiny lobes and their flowers are white.
The leaves look like a sassafrass seedling to me, but sassafras has yellow flowers so that's not the right answer either. So we're all stumped. I hope you can find the correct answer to your question!
Looks like what I called a Jacobena (sp) We had a tree form outside out picture window for years but then it got more an more scraggly and we removed it. Red flower clusters almost all year long here in Central Florida
There’s an app you can get on your phone called Plant Snap! from the iTunes app. All u do is take a pic of the plant thru the app & it will more than likely identify what your looking for. Hope this helps 🙂
