Need a ground cover plant

Question

I have a built up planter box using railroad ties and it has two large trees, I am looking for a low ground cover that will not hurt my trees and will also give me some color.  Help.   Thank You!!!

Hi Cathy. I am not sure what area you are in but Vinca Vine is a nice ground cover. It gets little purple flowers.

St Johns Wort has nice yellow flowers. It is a perennial and needs a bit of sun though. Impatience does well in light shade and comes in a variety of colors. Depending on where you live, it will die in winter.

This is on the west side of the house along the driveway. It has a lot of shade because of the two trees that are in the box. The box itself is about 10' x 30', or close to that.
