Hi Lili, If your garage is heated you could likely do this, but I think it would be better to winter it in the house, as they are not tolerant of freezing temperatures, hope this helps you out,
I added a wooden shower curtain rod above the shower doors. The kind that has a half circle bracket that screws into the wall so it can't come down. There is a window in my shower so it gets a lot of light and hung the fern there until spring. It get moisture from the shower and is easy to take down and water right from the tub faucet.
I would check with a local nursery to see what minimum temps the fern can tolerate. They will also be able to tell you how much/often they need water.
Is your garage heated? If it's not heated I doubt they'd survive in there. Is there a window or two?
It will probably be too cold in your garage and it's doubtful you will get enough sunlight. Most of the time people move them to a bathroom with a window but if the garage is your only option, you could purchase a heat lamp and a uv light.
Probably not. They will do better inside.
Be prepared for your Boston fern "shedding" while it is in your house. I always put mine on the north front porch of my house for the summer and before winter, bring it in the house and put it in a south window. It will shed! Each week I sort of "fluff" it up with my hand and then sweep up the fallen leaves. They are worth keeping, so pretty.
Yes as long as they are covered when it freezes
High humidity is necessary to keep the Boston fern as a houseplant. ... If you don't have the right conditions indoors for overwintering Boston ferns, allow them to go dormant and store in a garage, basement or outdoor building where temperatures don't go below 55 F. (13 C.)

If it gets too cold in your garage, they might die anyways
Hello. I find that when I bring mine in the house to overwinter I put it in the basement laundry room - the plant drops lots of leaves.
I would suggest considering a drop cloth underneath the plant in case this is a factor in your experience too
