Hi,
This spring I bought a plant that looked to be in the Ice Plant family. Same type of plant but it blooms beautiful flowers which open in the morning and close with the afternoon sun. I misplaced the plant description card and am wondering & hoping that this is a perennial.
If anyone can tell me what this is I would greatly appreciate it!

It is actually a moss rose. In the southern states it will grow continually. In my area, Zone 6, it is not winter hardy. They will take full sun or shade.

Portulaca (/ˌpɔrtjuːˈleɪkə/) is the type genus of the flowering plant family Portulacaceae, comprising about 40-100 species found in the tropics and warm temperate regions. They are also known as Moss Roses.

Love Portulaca (moss rose)! Unfortunately, it's not winter hardy. But the good news is, it self-sows readily. Keep an eye out for their distinctive needle-like leaves next year. They love sidewalk cracks! One year, I had a little nursery of volunteer portulaca going in the cracks near some pots they'd been in the previous summer. When they were about an inch high, I transplanted them to where I wanted them. As mentioned by others, they love the dry and the heat. So a particularly cool, wet spring may delay (or reduce) their appearance. If you're lucky, though, you may never have to buy portulaca again.
  • Portulaca, Mom planted some every year.
