Succulents do well in sandy soil, as do cactus. Perhaps palm trees (there are such a large variety maybe you can find one for your area like Palmetto or palm dwarf). Hope this helps

Sandy soil is hard because the water runs right through. Have you mixed other materials in it yet, like compost, animal fertilizer and natural material so it's not just sand?
