Cynthia Spurlock on May 11, 2015They could be just dropping a few leaves from transfer shock but if it's more than that I'm not sure. They do drop leaves at first. We've never had a problem.Helpful Reply

Joan on May 11, 2015Did you rough up the root ball so that the roots were not intertwined? Also, it doesn't hurt to cut back the lateral branches about 1/3 so that the roots do not have to support so much tree the first year.Helpful Reply

Teddi Boyda on May 11, 2015River Birch need a ton of water....hence the name. I've read that many trees need water everyday for the first week, every week for the first 3 months and monthly for the rest of the first year. Rain and snow will of course provide much of that.Helpful Reply
