Hi Jan, I have never had good luck with tomatoes in pots. Do they have good drainage? If the pots don't have holes, you can put some rocks in the bottom of the pot. Follow that with a layer of newspaper. Then soil and plants. This method will prevent the roots from sitting in water. Soil is key too. I use one-third soil, one-third manure and one-third sand. The sand is for water retention. It helps the water last longer. I hope you find this info helpful. Good luck and Happy Gardening.

If you are watering from the top.... the leaves may be sun burning (water on the leaves acts like a magnifying glass.. so they burn) water from the bottom. Get a product called "Blossom Set" it helps the blossoms hold on if the area the plant is in is windy.... also... if you are using Miracle Grow for tomatoes.... leave it off for at least 2 weeks...or not at all... especially if the plants have grown to a good size.... the plants spend all their energy making leaves and branches.... and don't make blossoms
