Tomato plants- how can I use coffee grounds and egg shells for them?

i have added coffee grounds and crushed egg shell, how often should i add these items?

  • I add them in as I use them. If you have only a couple plants you may not need as much. I wouldn't add the coffee grounds daily, use in another part of your yard or garden. Egg shells are good for so many things, just spread them around.

    • So welcome! I have 6 right now in various stages. I use a lot of eggs for cooking and baking so I just smash and sprinkle in the herbs and veggies. I drink really strong coffee and do not dare give them my grounds every day, too much acid. And send the rain out west where we need it! My girlfriend in Asheville has had a ton of rain too and is also worried. We need the rain, have been watering twice a day.

    Eggshells crushed up and sprinkled around them keep slugs away. It cuts them up they hate it. Can't really have to many.

    I only put the coffee grounds and egg shells in the bottom of the hole before I put the plant in. I usually fertilize right before it gets ready to rain.
