Unknown Plant/weed

Does anyone know what this might be? It looks and bends like a willow, but is coming up randomly in a few various spots where a house used to set.
Closeup of the leaves
This plant is about 20" tall and there are 3 or 4 of them.

@Douglas Hunt what do you think?

@Julie J Sorry, I'm at a loss. Is this as high as you have seen it? Ever seen it flower?

It's the first time I've ever seen it, @Douglas Hunt My brother purchased this property which used to be a small farm. This is in front of where the house used to be, so it could be a bush of some sort. I would like to transplant one or two, but don't want to start something invasive. We're in NE Ohio. Thanks for weighing in. I might clip a couple branches and head over to one of the local landscapers for advice.

@Julie J That's a very good idea. Or take the clippings to your local extension office.

Could this be a dwarf leaf willow?
  • Julie J Julie J on Sep 03, 2013
Yes! The OSU-ATI is not too far from me....

@Stephen Andrew I don't know, but that sounds like a match. I've never heard of that variety before. I'll be taking a cutting to a local nursery for their evaluation. Thanks for the suggestion! I'll post back after I find out!

It looks like it is in the vetch family, all of which I think are very invasive.

The vetch we have here in the south is a vine type weed, very easy to pull up and is very invasive. It does not grow upright like the plant in your picture. Have no idea what you have.

Could it be a Scotch Broom? I can't tell how large the leaves are from your close-up. Does it bloom?
  • Judy Judy on Sep 04, 2013
Don't know what it is but I'm fairly sure it's not a scotch broom....

The leaves also look a bit like a "bridal wreath" Spirea we used to have out on our farm in North Central Alabama. If that's what it is, it wouldn't bloom until it was more mature. That's my only guess since I think I see a more twiggy nature instead of a vining nature. Otherwise, I'm lost too. I found this photo of new growth on a spirea, but honestly the one you show here is more like what we saw on the tips of our branches every spring. :http://www.plantdatabase.co.uk/Spiraea_Arguta

@Kathy and @Lgsmith it's not vetch. I have that growing in my yard along the creek (not sure how that got there!). @Teresa A I wish it were a Scotch Broom, those are gorgeous when they bloom. @Dana Pledger unfortunately it's not a bridal wreath spirea either. It's branches and leaves are very willow like. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I'll report back as soon as I find out, or if any of you do please let us all know!!

I spoke to an owner at a very large nursery, and he seemed to think it is a willow, possibly dwarf variety. Darn it, I was hoping for some old, heirloom bush. Thanks for all the comments!
