It rather depends on where you are. Italian cypress are fast growing, tall and slender, so you need more, but they’re gorgeous. They do get tall.
Check with a local garden center, county Agricultural Extension Service, or the closest university Extension center for what grows best in your area and less inclined to get “sick”.

I agree with Jcraw. Local resources are the best place to look for trees because they know what works best where you live. The Extension Service is a good place to start. Also try local nursery's to see what kind of trees they have in stock. Nurseries are more likely to grow trees that will sell which means they grow well locally. A nursery can also help you figure out what works for privacy. Remember that if you buy a tree that grows fast, it won't be too long until they will become extremely tall and you'll be wondering why you planted them in the first place. This advice comes from real story in my family. Wishing you the best.
