Being in Texas....we have a lot of different species of Oak trees. Live Oak trees stay green through the winter and then drop all their leaves in the Spring. We also have a species that is in crisis to a disease called "Oak Wilt". Look that up on Google images and see if it resembles what you are seeing. It's a very invasive disease and cutting down trees and burning them does not eliminate the spores......it almost spreads them. Good luck....I hope it's something treatable for you.

Just looked at a google map for "Oak Wilt" and it stretches from Texas to Illinois right over Missouri. If you have it in your area or yard, call a tree surgeon for advice. It really has to be treated, but areas where there is raw land, the trees just succumb to it. It's very sad.
