What is the best way to keep orchids alive and also get rid of knats?

I have purchased quite a few violets and orchids that were on clearance. For the most part I have been able to keep alive. However some aren't doing so well because of knats being attracted to them. I have tried the sprays you can buy at the store and also neem oil on them but nothing I do seems to help. I have also hung up sticky traps. That seems to help for a little while but then they come back. What can I use to get rid of the knats and keep my violets and orchids alive and knats at bay?

They are fungus gnats and spraying alone will not get rid of them.Gnats lay eggs in the soil. Re-pot the orchids in orchid pots with orchid medium,re-pot the african violets in there correct pot with african violet soil
