What month do hydrangeas typically start to put their leaves on?

I have two hydaranges I planted last year & I think they may have not made it through the winter, they are not even putting leaves on yet,maybe just alittle early? Also I live in central Kansas.

    it is probably to early.what has your weather been.....

      Very dry winter , but have started watering them several times over the last couple weeks

    Mine are starting to leaf out, but I live in Tennessee and mine are older. Give them a chance. They may surprise you!!!!

    I am in Eastern Missouri. Try breaking off a stem near the ground. If it is greenish and pliable, the plant is probably fine. Give it a few weeks.:)
