I love my Autumn Sedums. they grow into a bush much like mums do and about the same size. I plant them in alternates, I laid down a soaker hose on a timer. The creeping sedums would be pretty around the bases of these two. I also use a lot of petunias. The wave petunias in hanging baskets and regular as ground cover also. These do not come back yearly but are really cheap to replace. Flowers all spring and summer. Hyacinths and crocus would be great in the same bed giving you great smelling early flowers. The bulbs are easy and comeback every year. There are others with short bloom time like white paper and iris these will all come back. I lived in mid Missouri and in the late fall covered them all with pine needles since I had so many, leaves or straw would probably work as well. I did this because we lived at the top of a hill with 360 weather.
