When is the best time to prune roses?

    in the late winter or early spring when they are dormant

    They should be pruned in very late winter or very early spring before the leaves begin sprouting. Sometimes I notice just a few leaves starting at the base and quickly get my pruning shears and take care of them!

    The way I remember is I heard a master gardener say on TV one time that roses are associated with Love and Valentine's. So remember to cut back your roses near Valentine's Day!❤❤
